PUTRAJAYA: Former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad submitted his application to rejoin Umno to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak at Seri Satria on Saturday.
He was accompanied by his wife Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali and his son Mokhzani, who also submitted their application forms.
Dr Mahathir, who has been a fierce critic of former Prime Minister Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, has left the party in May last year, vowing to return to the party only after the latter has stepped down.
Najib, who became Prime Minister on Friday, said he welcomed Dr Mahathir's re-entry into Umno as it would help with the party's rebuilding process.
Dr Mahathir said he hoped that others who left the party with him would also rejoin. (TheStar)
